Filip Warchalowski | ZÜBLIN

ZÜBLIN is the right employer for people who prefer to help shape progress themselves rather than wait for it to happen. For everyone who sets themselves new challenges every day, contributes creative ideas, and thinks and acts with foresight. For those who are open to change and digital transformation, and who work in teams out of conviction. We’re looking for people to shape the future of construction alongside us. We’re looking for you. Together, we’ll achieve great things. Build the future with us!

Building the future: Working together for a sustainable future

We are taking construction to the next level with the aim of becoming Europe’s most innovative and sustainable construction technology group.

With our vision of rethinking the construction of tomorrow, we have clearly defined our goal and have already set the wheels of change in motion: we will become climate-neutral by 2040 across the entire value chain. To achieve this goal, we will reassess, rethink and reimplement every aspect within our key areas. But that is not enough for us; we want to do more. This is precisely where our 2030 Strategy comes in.

People. Planet. Progress. The STRABAG Group’s 2030 Strategy. STRABAG
Video: STRABAG Strategy 2030

With this strategy, we are setting out a clear plan for how we will turn our vision into reality in the coming years. As an established construction technology group, we have a clear leadership ambition: we want to be profitable whilst at the same time creating added value for people and our environment. After all, successful and sustainable business means looking to the future in more than just one dimension. Together, we want to achieve more:

However, we will not achieve this goal overnight. It is a process that requires technologies, some of which we still need to develop – and are already doing so. It requires entirely new ways of working that conserve resources and make us less dependent on fossil fuels. It requires all of us to embark on this journey together from now on.

Personal development: Further training – advancing both professionally and personally.

Learning is a lifelong process, both in terms of personal development and in the world of work. And we support this process.

Alongside our construction projects, we are fully committed to helping you progress and supporting your development in the best possible way – professionally, methodologically and personally. Our aim is to achieve shared progress through personalised professional development.

Career path

Whether it’s an internship, a part-time student role, a trainee programme or a direct entry role: at ZÜBLIN, there’s more than one career path. We offer you numerous opportunities to lay the foundations for a successful career and drive progress as part of a strong team.

Our career model offers you the opportunity to develop your career along three different career paths:

Staff appraisal

ZÜBLIN is characterised by a dynamic corporate culture. In our work, we ask ourselves: “Where are we now, and where do we want to go?” We ask you this question too. Your needs, skills and goals are, of course, important to us throughout the year. During the annual performance review, you’ll discuss these in detail with your line manager. Together, you’ll set joint career goals, discuss your particular strengths and areas for development, and decide how to work together to build on these.

Group Academy

Your future is important to us. That is why the training programme offered by our Group’s own academy covers not only company-specific specialist knowledge but also areas such as leadership development, personal development, technology, IT and law. This is delivered by internal and external trainers and through digital learning formats. Partners such as LinkedIn Learning give you access to over 11,000 video courses. Our aim is to support and facilitate needs-based, on-the-job and self-directed learning at any time. You decide when, where and how you want to learn.

Versatile project management

In partnership with FH Campus Wien, we provide our trainee project managers with a comprehensive in-house training programme that thoroughly prepares them for managing projects in both commercial and technical fields. Experienced project managers are on hand to offer participants advice and support. Across six modules, internal and external experts cover key areas of project management using case studies, with a focus on a forward-looking and innovative approach to work. Each module concludes with an examination and a certificate.

Successful construction management

The challenges facing managers today are varied and demanding. To ensure our staff in both commercial and technical roles are optimally prepared for these career progression steps, we offer them the ‘Successful Construction Management’ training programme. Module leaders – primarily from our senior management team – lead the eight modules of the training programme and, together with in-house and external specialist trainers, provide participants with comprehensive knowledge ranging from client management to quality assurance. Discussion within the groups and with the trainers is encouraged throughout the training programme, enabling the development of strong, long-term relationships that foster mutual support in day-to-day working life.

BIM management.

Have you heard of BIM? BIM stands forBuilding InformationModellingand is an optimised method for the design, construction and operation of buildings based on a collaborative approach. It is founded on the shared use of centrally provided information – in other words, the various designers work together on a single model and make the data available to others. This part-time training programme will equip you to apply and utilise the forward-looking BIM approach across all areas of the construction industry. With this expertise, we are actively shaping the future.

Health. Safety. Well-being.

Health is our greatest asset. The people who work for us are important to us. That is why we lay a strong foundation both in our buildings and in the areas of prevention and health promotion.

STRABAG

Progress without health is like building without a plan.

At ZÜBLIN, ‘wellbeing’ means more than just exercise and nutrition. After all, health has many facets. Alongside the physical aspect, mental and social wellbeing also play a major role. That is why we implement specific measures aimed at ensuring that both working conditions and the behaviour of our staff promote long-term health. To this end, the wellbeing programme at ZÜBLIN offers a wide range of initiatives.

Our services in the areas of Health, Safety and Wellbeing.

Please note: The services on offer may vary across our various group sites.

  • Health information

What does it actually mean to live a healthy lifestyle? To help people gain this health-related knowledge, ZÜBLIN offers talks, workshops, webinars and confidential one-to-one consultations with external experts. Topics such as stress and burnout prevention, nutrition, exercise, ergonomics and motivation are presented to our staff in formats tailored to specific target groups.

  • Training programmes for managers

Our managers receive targeted awareness-raising and training on health issues, enabling them to recognise the signs of personal crises – such as burnout – both in their staff and in themselves. Healthy leadership, performance in today’s working world and communication are also key components of our Management Compass

  • Sports and health programmes

Active breaks to top up your energy levels during the day, or working up a sweat at a boot camp after work? The choice is yours! A wide range of sporting activities take place regularly throughout the year at our sites: running groups, back health classes, football, yoga, Pilates, workplace massages and much more.

  • Partners

Would you like to organise your own exercise routine? Then take advantage of our online health programmes with selected partner organisations, or train at discounted rates at one of our partner gyms. With around 3,000 venues across Germany, there’s bound to be something to suit everyone.

  • Wellbeing on Wheels

Our wellbeing services are also available on the move: via the HSW bus, which travels to various construction sites across Germany, thereby reaching many of our colleagues who work in different locations.

  • Check-ups

As part of our health weeks, we offer primary preventive screenings and assessments. From spinal scans and body composition analyses to strength assessments and many other health tests, our staff can have their bodies thoroughly checked.

Wellbeing within the group

Your safety comes first. You can count on that.

No job is so important that you should put your own health or that of your colleagues at risk. To make ZÜBLIN safer every day, the motto is:
1 ▸ 2 ▸ 3 Safe!

This motto is intended to encourage you to pause for a moment and consciously choose the correct steps to take – thereby prioritising health and safety. Whether on a building site or in the office: it is the seconds before the next step that determine …

1 ▸ 2 ▸ 3 Sure!

These are the steps involved:

  • 1 ▸ Stop!

Take your time and assess the situation before you get started. The seconds leading up to the next step are crucial!

  • 2 ▸ Think!

Take a close look at the next steps in the work plan, prepare them thoroughly and make sure you work safely.

  • 3 ▸ Take action!

    Act responsibly and work safely.

Diverse teams: How we work together

We are united by the goal of working together to build a better future for people and the planet.

In practical terms, this means that, as a construction technology group, we will become climate-neutral by 2040. In doing so, we are focusing on small steps as well as grand visions. Together, we want to successfully navigate this path. To this end, we are building with, for and alongside people, drawing on the diverse experiences and perspectives of our employees.

Our values.

This is what we stand for. Our values form the basis of everything we do – towards our staff, our clients, our subcontractors and society as a whole.

  • Partnership

Treating one another with respect. Treating one another as equals.

  • Trust

Relying on one another, being aware of one’s responsibilities and allowing scope for independent thought and action.

  • Solidarity

Standing up for one another, taking responsibility for successes and failures, and maintaining a team spirit and supporting one another even in difficult times.

  • A passion for innovation

Create space for ideas, allow for mistakes and view them as valuable learning experiences.

  • Commitment

Define and pursue common goals, and play an active part.

  • Modesty

To set realistic expectations of ourselves and others, whilst keeping our feet on the ground.

  • Sustainability

Taking (shared) responsibility for ourselves, our company and our environment – both now and in the future. Together, we can make a real difference.

  • Respect

To be open to other perspectives and ideas, in the spirit of humane and respectful coexistence.

  • Reliability

We stand by our word: we say what we do and do what we say.

We are committed to greater equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion

Our EDI (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion) strategy is designed to ensure that everyone can contribute their unique qualities and experiences. It is through the diversity within our teams that we are able to find innovative solutions and successfully shape the future.

  • In my view, professionalism, competence, determination and perseverance are not skills that depend on gender.

    Dr Nadine Harder
    Project Engineer
  • Our vision for the future: equality of opportunity, diversity and inclusion are firmly embedded in everyone’s thinking, in our structures and in our approaches, and are automatically taken into account in everything we do. Gender diversity and ethnic diversity are also more strongly reflected in leadership positions.

    Natalie Atzenberger
Group Coordinator for EDI (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion)

We promote diversity

We embrace diversity not only across our business areas, but also amongst the people and teams at ZÜBLIN. To build diverse teams, we value our differences. The greater the diversity, the more creatively, variedly and, above all, successfully we work together. This gives rise to innovative solutions, as well as new perspectives and opportunities, which we capitalise on together.

Two staff members in the office building are looking at the camera.

Increasing gender diversity

We take it for granted that everyone should have the opportunity for individual career development, regardless of gender or gender identity. After all, it is only through diverse perspectives and opinions that we are strong enough to overcome our challenges. In this context, we also aim to make it even easier to balance parenthood and work, for example through arrangements such as job-sharing, working from home and part-time work.

Promoting internationalism

At our various locations both at home and abroad, colleagues from different cultural backgrounds work together in national and international teams – from Santiago de Chile to Copenhagen, Stuttgart and Zagreb, right through to Singapore. Influences from many countries come together, creating space for innovation and creativity. This diversity makes us stronger both as individuals and as a company as a whole.

Enabling intergenerational diversity

Experience leads to knowledge – and this knowledge is key to our success. As we greatly value the expertise of our experienced colleagues, we actively encourage the exchange of ideas amongst our staff. Through intergenerational dialogue facilitated by mentoring and coaching programmes, new opportunities continually arise that benefit both sides.
